A JSX Pilot is a team member whose primary duties and responsibilities are the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of JSX aircraft and transportation of guests.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assumes command and responsibility for the aircraft, crew and passengers for all phases of flight and is the final authority for the operation of the aircraft (FAR91.3). The PIC may not delegate this authority.
  • Direct and supervise assigned crewmembers in the performance of their duties.
  • Ensures the assigned aircraft is airworthy and that all required documents are onboard the aircraft.
  • Conduct the flight in accordance with all applicable FAR's, ICAO or host country rules and the procedures set forth in the GOM.
  • Responsible in conjunction with the person exercising first tier operational control, for ensuring that the maintenance and inspection status of the assigned aircraft, as shown in the aircraft dispatch material, is current and that required maintenance actions or inspections will not come due before the planned completion of the flight back to the main maintenance base or other facility where the inspections can be accomplished.
  • Is responsible for ensuring that MEL deferred maintenance items, if applicable, do not affect the operational capability of the aircraft.
  • Shall not depart on a flight with a known maintenance discrepancy unless that discrepancy has been cleared; or deferred in accordance with an FAA approved MEL.
  • Shall not continue a flight if the aircraft is believed to be in an un-airworthy condition.
  • Refers to the Crew Itinerary to determine the proper FAR status of each flight leg and plans the flight accordingly.
  • Ensures that the proper amount and grade of fuel is loaded on the aircraft.
  • Prepares and files an FAA flight plan and/or company flight plan, as appropriate.
  • Ensures that a weight and balance form is properly completed in accordance with the procedures found under Flight Operations of this manual.
  • Reports all known or suspected FAA violations or incidents promptly to the Chief Pilot.
  • Ensures that the VOR checks and other aircraft equipment checks are performed properly.
  • Is responsible for aircraft stores and appropriate catering for the flight.
  • Ensures that passengers have been briefed.
  • Ensures that weather conditions and aircraft performance limitations are sufficient for the FAR under which the flight is being conducted.
  • Ensures that all discrepancies discovered before, during, or after the flight, are recorded on the FLIGHT/MAINTENANCE REPORT carried aboard the aircraft.
  • Communicates this information to Mission Control and the Director of Maintenance as required in this manual.
  • Ensures that a copy of the GOM is aboard the aircraft.
  • Maintains contact with Mission Control, often enough during a series of flights to ensure that operational messages are promptly conveyed.
  • Keeps Mission Control informed of any known or anticipated changes in flight itinerary.
  • Ensures that the trip number, Out-Off-On-In (OOOI) times and other appropriate flight data are called into Mission Control as soon as practicable after completion of each flight leg.
  • Ensures that online Postflight reports are completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that the FLIGHT/MAINTENANCE REPORTs are forwarded to the Director of Maintenance at the end of each trip or day as appropriate.
  • Maintains a current medical certificate as required by the company, and notifies the Chief Pilot if a medical (physical or mental) condition may impair their ability to perform the flight.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • 1200 hours of total flight time (1500 hours preferred)
  • 250 hours PIC including 100 hours cross country and 25 hours night
  • 75 hours instrument actual/simulated
  • 50 hours multi-engine (100 hours preferred)
  • 75 to 100 hours in the last year preferred
  • Preferred turbine experience
  • Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Multi Certificate or Commercial Multi Certificate
  • FAA First Class Medical Certificate
  • Valid and Current Passport
  • Must be fluent in the English language

Physical demands:

  • Intermittent physical activity including bending, reaching and prolonged periods of sitting.
  • Must be able to work all shifts.
  • Ability to occasionally lift 5-50 pounds.
  • Ability to occasionally team lift 50+ pounds.
